About
The 2019-20 Campus Read is the third campus read at LSSU. In 2017-18, the book Station Eleven by Emily St. John-Mandel was chosen by faculty & staff through a vote, and during the fall semester, the LSSU Library held a variety of events connected to the topics of the book including book discussions, scholarly talks, a book art workshop and a Pandemic game night. In 2018-19, the campus faculty & staff voted to select The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot for the Campus Read, and over the full school year the library held events including faculty speakers and movie screenings.
For the 2019-20 school year, through a “bracket battle” process, campus faculty & staff selected What the Eyes Don’t See by Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha, which chronicles the Flint Water Crisis. Event planning is happening now and a schedule of speakers and other events will be available later this summer.
