The LSSU Campus Read is a campus-wide project that encourages all students, faculty and staff to read the same book during the school year.<\/p>\n
The 2021-22 Campus Read will be the fourth campus read at LSSU.\u00a0 In 2017-18, the book Station Eleven<\/em> by Emily St. John-Mandel was chosen by faculty & staff through a vote, and during the fall semester, the LSSU Library held a variety of events connected to the topics of the book including book discussions, scholarly talks, a book art workshop and a Pandemic game night.\u00a0 In 2018-19, the campus faculty & staff voted to select The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks<\/em> by Rebecca Skloot for the Campus Read, and over the full school year the library held events including faculty speakers and movie screenings.\u00a0 For the 2019-20 school year, the campus selected\u00a0What the Eyes Don’t See<\/em> by Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha, and the LSSU Library held a series of events including a talk on PFAS in Michigan, a documentary screening on the Flint Water Crisis, and a talk about the effects of lead on child brain development. For the 2020-21 school year, we did not have a Campus Read as our campus participated the NEA Big Read program, centered around Louise Erdrich’s The Round House<\/em>.<\/p>\n If you have a book that would facilitate building community (on campus and beyond!), <\/span>conversations between people with diverse experiences, i<\/span>ncreased social engagement with the world around us, and <\/span>development of critical thinking, you can nominate it starting January 30<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n Selection of the Campus Read will begin March 10, so please submit your nomination by Feb 28, 2021.<\/p>\n The 2021-22 Campus Read Planning Committee members are:<\/p>\n Joe Gallagher The LSSU Campus Read is a campus-wide project that encourages all students, faculty and staff to read the same book during the school year.
