The result is low yields, food insecurity and the perpetuation of rural poverty.<br \/>\nSteve discusses\u00a0an ongoing research program in Mozambique and Tanzania designed to explore the effectiveness of new innovations in breaking farmers out of risk-induced poverty traps.<br \/>\nDr. Steve Boucher is an associate professor of Agricultural and Resource Economics at the University of California, Davis.
