A Beautiful Mind
Book Title & Author:
A Beautiful Mind by Sylvia Nasar
Why do you think the LSSU Campus should read this book? How will it build community? start conversations? encourage social engagement? empower critical thinking? Will it inspire an engaging TEDxLSSU theme?
The true story of John Nash (Nobel Prize winner) concerns the heart and mind, the arts and the sciences, and those things that cannot be explained by either. It cuts across many fields on our campus – mathematics, economics, psychology, healthcare – and if rife with opportunity for interdisciplinary conversation and community building. In addition, LSSU Theatre intends in the Fall of 2018, to produce “Proof” by David Auburn – a play mirroring the story of John Nash and was in part inspired by his story. Being able to gather on the stage and engage in talk back sessions afterwards will encourage engagement, conversation, and much more. The book was also turned into a film that could be incorporated into the experience and shown in the Arts Center. A diverse mix of faculty could be tapped to discuss ideas from their own specialties and would lead to a natural fit for TedXLSSU.
