Rho Chi Omega really loves to get involved in the local community. We currently have two philanthropies that we host events for every year. The first is the local chapter of Girls on the Run. Girls on the Run is an organization that promotes healthy living choices and high self-esteem in young girls. In order to raise money for this organization, Rho Chi holds an annual Rho-a-Thon in downtown Sault Ste Marie during the fall months. At this event we have sisters from Rho Chi working on rowing machines for 24 hours. This past October we were able to raise over $1,000 for this organization!
Another philanthropy of ours is Out of the Darkness. This organization helps bring awareness and support to those who have ties to suicide; whether it be they know someone who has attempted, a personal experience, or they just support the cause. Every spring the sisters of Rho Chi hold a campus walk in Sault Ste Marie to help raise money and awareness for this issue. We also have speakers who share stories and information about suicide and what can be done to help.
