The Stand UP Campaign is a collaborate effort between Lake Superior State University’s Title IX Office and Sault Sainte Marie’s Diane Peppler Resource Center. Made possible by a generous grant from the Michigan State Police, this campaign focuses on sexual assault prevention and active bystander/up stander invention. This multi-faceted campaign includes a series of on-campus sexual violence awareness events, an educational video series, student focus groups, on-campus training opportunities for students, faculty, and staff, and multiple community outreach events.
As a University, we are dedicated to providing all members of our community a safe environment to learn and work. Through our training and awareness events, the Campaign teaches students how to be an UP Stander. Being an UP Stander means having the courage to Stand UP, speak out, and step in to prevent discrimination, harassment, and sexual violence on our campus. We encourage all of our students, faculty, and staff to work together to create a culture where everyone in our community feels safe and respected at all times.
