Among many honors, Dr. Giffioen was 2018 class valedictorian at North Carolina College of Veterinary Medicine , and is now a veterinary intern at the Mystic Aquarium in Connecticut. Dr. Giffioen was recognized as an advocate for total health at  NCCVM  https://cvm.ncsu.edu/alum-griffioen-18-honored-as-a-strong-voice-for-student-wellness/

As a freshman at LSSU, John established the marine aquarium in the Crawford Hall lobby. He graduated summa cum laude with a BS Biology (pre-vet), including minors in Chemistry, and Spanish Language, Literature and Culture.
