Psychiatrists during the slavery era described a syndrome “Drapetomia” a syndrome found among slaves – the principal symptom being a desire for freedom.  Others used psychiatric diagnoses to account for the civil rights movement.

In his talk, Dr. Searight will explore how psychiatry has been used and misused through American history, often to the detriment of minorities, and where we can go from here.

  1. Definitely believe that which you said. Your favorite
reason appeared to be on the web the easiest thing to be aware of.

I say to you, I definitely get irked while people think about worries that
they just do not know about. You managed to hit the nail upon the top and defined out the whole
thing without having side-effects , people can take a signal.
Will likely be back to get more. Thanks

  2. I am not sure where you’re getting your info, but
great topic. I needs to spend some time learning more or understanding
more. Thanks for wonderful info I was looking for this info for
    my mission.
