For her dissertation research (PhD in education earned in December 2016) Barb was interested in how educators learn to improve their instruction.  Her angle of approach was to examine how and why secondary science and math teachers transform their instruction.  She was surprised by the results of the study and how they apply across all levels and fields of education.  Barb’s qualitative study used a conceptual framework of brain-based learning theory, self-efficacy, and andragogy (adult learning theory).  She will share her research and where it has taken her thinking about teaching and learning.
