Scholar Series: Steve Boucher - "Innovations in Risk Management for Poverty Reduction"
Loading
/

In many regions of the world, most notably Sub-Saharan Africa, farm households’ willingness and ability to invest on their farms is significantly limited by the absence of effective means to manage risk. The result is low yields, food insecurity and the perpetuation of rural poverty.
Steve discusses an ongoing research program in Mozambique and Tanzania designed to explore the effectiveness of new innovations in breaking farmers out of risk-induced poverty traps.
Dr. Steve Boucher is an associate professor of Agricultural and Resource Economics at the University of California, Davis. Steve received his PhD in Agricultural and Applied Economics from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
